    What to expect

How a tree job actually runs

No surprises, no day-of price changes. Here's exactly what happens between your first call and us pulling out of the driveway.

    1

You call or send the form

Tell us roughly what you've got — a tree over the roof, a stump left behind, a plot gone wild. A photo from your phone helps more than any description.

    2

    We come and look, free

Someone comes out and stands under the tree. We check the lean, what's underneath it, and how we'd get a truck in. That visit costs you nothing and you're not committed to anything.

    3

You get a fixed written price

One number, in writing, covering the cut, the clearing and the disposal. If we think the tree can be saved with pruning instead, we'll tell you that too — even though it's the smaller job.

    4

We do it and clean up

The crew works to the plan, drops nothing it hasn't planned to drop, and rakes the site before leaving. Logs get stacked for firewood if you want them.

    Who we work for

One tree, or a whole plot full of them

Most of our work is ordinary Cape Town homeowners with one tree that has become a problem — a pine leaning towards the bedroom, a palm nobody can reach any more, a stump in the middle of where the paving is meant to go. That's the bread and butter, and no job is too small to come and quote on.

We also work for body corporates and estate managers who need the same trees dealt with every year without a fuss, letting agents getting a property ready between tenants, and builders who need a stand cleared before the pegs go in. Complexes and estates usually come with their own rules about working hours, gate access and where a truck may stand, and we'd rather find that out at the quoting stage than argue about it on the morning.

If you manage several properties, say so when you call. It's easier for everyone to walk the whole lot in one visit and quote it as one job than to do the same drive four times.

    What it costs

Why nobody can quote a tree over the phone

Every tree feller in Cape Town gets asked for a price on the phone, and anyone who gives you a firm one without seeing the tree is guessing. Two gums of exactly the same height can differ by thousands depending on what is underneath them and whether a truck can get within thirty metres of the trunk.

What actually moves the number is height and species, how close the tree is to a roof, wall or power line, how much of it has to be lowered on ropes rather than simply dropped, whether a chipper and truck can reach it, and how much material has to leave the property afterwards. A small garden tree in an open garden might be R1,200–R2,500. A big pine wedged between two houses is a different job entirely.

So we come out, look at it properly, and give you one fixed written price that covers the cut, the clearing and the disposal. It doesn't change on the day. If you want the detail behind the numbers, we've broken it down in our guide to what tree felling costs in Cape Town.

I had a great experience with Peter. They were very efficient, arrived on time, and trimmed my palm tree beautifully. They also cleaned up everything afterwards and removed all the rubble, leaving the area neat and tidy.
