Every job, done right
Eight services, and how to tell them apart
Most people phone us asking for "tree felling" when what they actually want is something slightly different, and the difference matters because it changes the price. Here's the plain-English version so you can ask for the right thing.
You want the tree gone completely
That's tree removal — the tree comes down and every log and branch leaves the property. Felling on its own just means bringing it down; if you don't want to be left with a pile of timber in the garden, removal is the word you want.
You want it smaller, not gone
That's pruning and trimming. A tree can usually be thinned so the wind blows through it, lifted off a roof or driveway, or reduced in height without losing the tree. It's the cheaper job and often the right one — we'll tell you if it is.
The tree's already down, or about to be
That's emergency and storm-damage work. A tree on a roof, a limb hanging in the canopy or a root plate lifting after heavy rain gets treated as urgent rather than booked in the normal queue.
There's a stump in the way
That's stump removal and grinding. Worth deciding at the same time as the felling — booking it as a second visit later costs more than doing it while the crew and machine are already there.
It's a palm, and palms are their own thing
Palms get priced on height rather than girth, and a tall one wedged between two houses is a specialist climb. Palm removal and cleaning covers both taking one out and simply stripping the dead fronds off.
It's a whole plot, not one tree
That's site and plot clearing — overgrown stands, invasive thicket, or a vacant erf that has to be clear before a build starts. It's a volume job, quoted after a walk-over rather than per tree.
It's a hedge or a screen
That's hedge trimming and shaping. If the hedge has stopped being a hedge and turned into a row of trees, say so when you call — that's a different job.
Still not sure? Don't worry about the labels. Phone us, describe what you're looking at, and we'll work out which of these it is. Whatever it turns out to be, the price comes after someone has stood under the tree — never over the phone.
